Industrial Court Members Sworn In.

The\r\nHon. Chief Judge of the Industrial Court, Hon. Justice Asaph Ntengye Ruhinda on\r\nNovember 3, 2014 swore in 10 members of the 11 members of the court who were\r\nchosen to assist in resolving labour disputes . The panelists were urged to\r\navoid discussing court cases with the public.

\r\n\r\n

The\r\nDeputy Chief Judge, Hon. Lady Justice Lydia Tumusiime said there were over 300\r\ncases which need to be disposed off in a short time. The Hon. Chief Judge\r\nexplained that the cases that concern labour disputes and had been partly tried\r\nby the High Court would remain there where they would be concluded.

The\r\nCeremony took place at the court’s premises in Ntinda in Kampala. The Court is\r\nset to start its business by drawing their program and allocation of work as\r\nwell as meet the lawyers who are handling the cases.

\r\n\r\n

Under\r\nthe law, the court is supposed to be presided over by two appointed High Court\r\nJudges and three panelists, one of whom must be independent, one\r\nrepresentative of the employers and another representative of the employees.
